In the personal care industry, conferences and fairs are a prime opportunity for visitors to meet face-to-face with brands – from the new and exciting to the more well-established – but also to strengthen relationships with customers or to use as platform for launching product innovations. Aside from the more popular industry events, there are also some regional and niche fairs you may not have heard of which should definitely be on the radar.

Date: 26 – 28 February
Location: Shanghai, China
PCHi China is possibly the biggest personal care fair when it comes to the number of exhibitors and visitors. Last year, over 25,000 visitors from 80 countries and 634 exhibitors were in attendance (read our summary of PCHi 2019 here). This event has a special focus on China, and Chinese companies in particular, and is instrumental for foreign companies seeking to break into the market.
Good To Know - If you are a western company, make sure to have a WeChat account and a translator.
Date: 12 – 15 February
Location: Nuremberg, Germany
If there’s one phrase to sum up the Vivaness exhibition, it would be – natural beauty. Created in partnership with BIOFACH, the world’s leading trade fair for organic food, this event is a must for businesses in the natural and organic cosmetics sector.
Good To Know - All the products exhibited at VIVANESS have either been certified by a recognized natural and organic cosmetics certifier or the individual ingredients have been checked for compliance with the VIVANESS criteria.
Indie Beauty Expo
Date: 25 – 26 March
Location: Berlin, Germany
The Indie Beauty Expo is a series of five shows in LA, Berlin, Dallas, New York and London, with a unique focus on supporting the growth of independently owned beauty brands. As the world’s largest event for this niche, it represents one of the best opportunities for indie brands to network and collaborate.
Good To Know - Indie Beauty Expo x Neiman Marcus is a retail collaboration allowing visitors to shop the next big names in beauty at the flagship store in Dallas as well as online.
Date: 31 March – 2 April
Location: Barcelona, Spain
Veterans of the beauty industry will most likely have heard of in-cosmetics Global, the leading event for personal care ingredients. The 31st edition will take place in Barcelona, (read about our experience from last year’s event in Paris here), and features an abundance of workshops, seminars and demos that are sure to inspire anyone looking to discover new trends (a highlight for 2020 is the Beauty Tech Zone). And on Wednesday, April 1st, in-cosmetics Global will be hosting #GlobalBeautyDay as a celebration of diversity and inclusivity in the beauty industry.

SCC Supplier’s Day
Date: 5 – 6 May
Location: New York, USA
As the name implies, NYSCC’s Supplier’s Day is likely to have the highest concentration of manufacturers, suppliers and distributors of personal ingredients in attendance at a single event in North America, as well as testing and other service providers. In its 41st year and with over 500 exhibitors, this event attracts the biggest and best in the cosmetic ingredient market.
Good To Know - This year’s theme is Revolutionary Disruptors, which will explore “the impact of digitalization, sustainability and other revolutionary topics on the traditional product development cycle”.
Beauty & Skincare Formulation Conference
Date: 14th of May
Location: London, UK
An extremely informative conference with some of the brightest minds in the industry, the Beauty & Skincare Formulation Conference features speakers from brands such as Coty, Lush, Shiseido and L’Oréal. Panel discussions on natural beauty, ingredients, marketing vs. science, and personalization will be held, just to name a few topics.
Good To Know - Chemberry’s Business Development Leader, Susanna, will be one of the speakers.
Cosmetics Business Live
Date: 13 – 14 May
Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands
Cosmetics Business Live is a two day B2B conference that focuses on four major topics - Ingredients, Packaging, Regulatory Testing and Retail. A line-up of speakers, curated by the Cosmetics Business editorial team, are scheduled to hold seminars on sustainability, e-commerce, and other relevant and trending topics.
Good To Know - The Pure Beauty Global Awards acknowledges the best products in beauty in 40 different categories during this event.
Date: 14 – 15 October
Location: Paris, France
A trade show that brings together leaders in the cosmetics and fragrance industry in one of the biggest capitals of beauty and fashion, Cosmetic360 also has a unique focus on start-ups looking to network in an exclusive environment.
Good To Know - A high proportion of attendees (47%) are decision-makers (including CEOs, R&D managers and marketing managers).
Date: 3 – 5 November
Specializing in one of the fastest-growing markets in the world, in-cosmetics Asia just keeps getting bigger and better. (Read about our experience at in-cos Asia last year). Its various workshops and seminars are the best opportunity to learn about the latest trends circulating the extremely diverse Asia-Pacific region.
Good To Know - The Halal Cosmetic Zone is a unique feature of this event catering to Muslim beauty consumers.
Date: 25 – 26 November
One of the final shows of the year is Making Cosmetics, which has a regional focus on the European market. (Read our summary of Making Cosmetics 2019 here). This free-to-attend has a unique Italian flair with an artistic theme and offers seminars in both Italian and English.
Good To Know - This is a smaller trade show that’s easy to cover in one day.
